You can’t take the Kentucky out of ME!!

Does this picture not say Kentucky boy? It’s in his blood!!! He falls asleep every night with a stuffed cardinal bird under his arm. We believe in training them young…I’ll have to blog an entire post on John’s room (Cubs and Cards) some other time.

We love whenever we get to go back to visit our beloved Kentucky. Unfortunately this trip didn’t allow for the time to make our usual stop in Lexington…hopefully next time.
We packed the week full…and John and Ben’s grandparents made sure they came home with lots of great memories.
Here are some of the great times we had:

The Newport acquarium

Grilling out with Sharon and Marvin and picking a watermelon about 2 months too soon.

Wrestling with Uncles…. Pictured below is Uncle Brad…or is it Uncle Derek…John could never quite make up his mind…those Kelty men look so much alike.
The followig moves are the Big Splash/nuckle sandwhich and an elbow drop….moves taught to him by daddy and Uncle Mike.

Chuck-E-Cheese…a big hit!!!

John enjoyed playing in the pool while ben just enjoyed playing pool!!!
Hanging out with Goo paw….
and many many more memories. We ate great food and just had a good time being with family we love so much. Brad (future chef) made me a delicious peach apple and blackberry pie from scratch…oh my. I also loved getting to have some good sister time with Kelly who will be bringing a new cousin into the world this February!!! John got to have a date with both Sharon and Dale and he loved all the time and attention.

We miss you so much already…thanks for making our vacation great!!!

We love you all!!!

Our Spring Break Journey

As I sit here to post, I am extremely tired and hungry for something more than the soup and milkshakes which I have been solely eating for the past 4 days….I have mono. YUCK! The Kelty family made it back in one piece from Kentucky…with the exception of a very sleepy mama. The Ramseys were gracious enough to let us borrow their van which carried all of our necessary junk to and from Harrisonburg, to Lexington, to Louisville and back home again. The next several posts are our journey over the last 10 days…thanks for reading!!!

Back to the Bluegrass

Last weekend, Ben mom and I made a trip to Kentucky! Chris suggested I needed some time to myself ( before the baseball season begins) to get away and to introduce friends and family to our newest little arrival. It was great fun to be with friends I hadn’t seen in a long time. I stayed with Laura and John and was able to spend time with Karla and Nicole too. I also went by the pregnancy Center and got to talk to Janet for a long time. It was great having my mom along on the trip. She was staying with her sister Grace, but offered to babysit, so Laura and I went to dinner at my favorite Bella Note. I was sad that Raegan and her Mallaney were in Hong Kong visiting her sister and her new niece Maddie Rae and I missed by only 2 days. I also went to Louisville to be with the Kelty’s. My mother and father-in-law were the only Kelty’s that had met Ben. It was great fun to hang out at Derek and Kelly’s new house and to be with everyone. I hated that it was a short trip but I came back refreshed. Chris and John had a lot of fun while I was gone. Admittedly it was great to get home to John. It was the longest I had been without seeing him. He greeted me at the door with a huge hug and “Welcome Home from Tucky!!!” Now he likes to play the “Mommy comes home from Tucky” game. I of course love this game becasue it means lots of hugs, “I love you’s and I missed you’s!!!” Okay, so the game was my idea!! It was a short trip and I’m sad I didn’t get to see more friends. At the end of March Chris and I will travel back together with our kids for about a week for the occassion of derk and Kelly’s wedding. My parents will be going too because they have asked my dad to marry them. So fun! Though I have lived in Harrisonburg for most of my life, kentucky will always feel like home!
