Back to the Bluegrass

Last weekend, Ben mom and I made a trip to Kentucky! Chris suggested I needed some time to myself ( before the baseball season begins) to get away and to introduce friends and family to our newest little arrival. It was great fun to be with friends I hadn’t seen in a long time. I stayed with Laura and John and was able to spend time with Karla and Nicole too. I also went by the pregnancy Center and got to talk to Janet for a long time. It was great having my mom along on the trip. She was staying with her sister Grace, but offered to babysit, so Laura and I went to dinner at my favorite Bella Note. I was sad that Raegan and her Mallaney were in Hong Kong visiting her sister and her new niece Maddie Rae and I missed by only 2 days. I also went to Louisville to be with the Kelty’s. My mother and father-in-law were the only Kelty’s that had met Ben. It was great fun to hang out at Derek and Kelly’s new house and to be with everyone. I hated that it was a short trip but I came back refreshed. Chris and John had a lot of fun while I was gone. Admittedly it was great to get home to John. It was the longest I had been without seeing him. He greeted me at the door with a huge hug and “Welcome Home from Tucky!!!” Now he likes to play the “Mommy comes home from Tucky” game. I of course love this game becasue it means lots of hugs, “I love you’s and I missed you’s!!!” Okay, so the game was my idea!! It was a short trip and I’m sad I didn’t get to see more friends. At the end of March Chris and I will travel back together with our kids for about a week for the occassion of derk and Kelly’s wedding. My parents will be going too because they have asked my dad to marry them. So fun! Though I have lived in Harrisonburg for most of my life, kentucky will always feel like home!

John’s 2nd Birthday

Wow, we can hardly believe that John is 2. We had a fun family party on Saturday the 20th. I decorated in Baby Einstein and John arrived to the Party (at the Ramsey’s) with everyone already there to yell “Happy Birthday.” He walked in adorned with a tie of Chris’s around his neck (John’s idea) What a cutie! He was so excited! Having Montica and Dawson in from Charleston made it especially fun! On his actual birthday we went for Chinese…he loves to dip eggrrolls. Is it possible that he is already 2? What a fun 2 years they have been.

Fun Visitors

On Thursday the 17th of January, my dear friend Montica and her cute red headed son Dawson, got in the car at 4:00 am to make what should have been a 7 hour trip from Charleston SC to Harrisonburg. Bless her heart…15 hours later she arrived. She made her way through snow and ice and wrecks to be with us and to meet baby Ben for the first time. We had so so much fun letting our kids play together and talking..talking…talking after they went to bed. Since she was here just a few days before John’s birthday we moved up the party so we could celebrate with them. We miss them so much already. John now constantly talks about “Onca and Dawson Samuel.” This past summer we made a trip to S.C. where Dr. and Mrs. Chambers introduced us to the fun life of Charleston. We can’t wait to return this summer for more fun. We love you Chambers!!! Monti Thanks for making the long trip for us!

First 2008 Snow!

John was mesmerized by the snow. It was a bit of battle getting him to agree to put little gloves on his little hands. But after we let him go for a while without them and they froze…he begrudgingly agreed to give them a try. He also really enjoyed eating the snow as you can see from the picture. These are pictures I know I will look back on years from now and be able to get right back in the moment.
